About me
I started as an entrepreneur in 2007, working with my partner and bootstrapping an online tutoring company called ArborBridge (acquired in 2021) and a content business called Wait But Why. Being an entrepreneur morphed into being an acquiring companies to operate and hold: I acquired my first operating company (CollegePlannerPro) in 2016, and my second (Apartment Guardian) in 2020. We plan to hold these forever. Buying companies morphed into being a minority investor in sponsored deals where we take a large stake and sit on the board. I've invested large stakes in 4 different buyout deals over the past 3 years, and a handful of smaller deals (which are no longer my preference).

I like to play an active board role, especially in the early stages when the sponsor needs the most support. Most sponsors, especially early in their career, need someone to bounce stuff off - whether it is ideas, frustrations, fears, etc, and for that person to be helping, they need to be invested and oriented. There needs to be a real relationship that is deeper than just GP/LP. My hope is that anyone that we back becomes a lifelong partnership - we are in our third deal with two different sponsors already. I've had the same business partner for 17 years. We are in it for the long haul.
